St. Patrick's Day Craft: Bell Pepper Shamrocks

For our weekend painting project, my lil gal & I decided to get a head start on St. Patrick's Day decorations! Rather than use stamps or stencils, we cut up a bell pepper.

What you'll need:
  • Green Paint
  • Paper
  • Bell pepper (green would have been an obvious choice, but all we had were orange & yellow peppers)

Slice a bell pepper widthwise and it will reveal a shamrock or if you are extra lucky a four-leaf clover shape. Dip your peppers in the green paint and stamp away!

Fun & educational!

DIY Designer Fabric Band-Aids

With a toddler in the house, we always have an available stash of band-aids. Various sizes, colors and prints (Princesses & Hello Kitty are a must)! Lately my lil gal has been obsessed with them. OBSESSED! Which sort of goes hand-in-hand with her sticker fascination.

Since the fun printed band-aids aren't cheap, I decided to kick up the basic version with some fun & vibrant fabrics!

What you'll need:
Fabric
Adhesive band-aids (I used the fabric version)
Double sided tape
Scissors

Unwrap the band-aid & place two strips of double sided adhesive tape on the top (fabric side)

Lay out the fabric, reverse side facing you & press the band-aid on to it. Cut around the edges.

That's it! Momma-made band-aids!
Easy peasy & super cute!

Since the adhesive tape probably won't let the band-aid breathe, these might be best for small owies or faux scraps & bumps!

What Happens When You Give Kids Thousands of Stickers

I love this!
Artist Yayoi Kusama created an inter-active installation entitled The Obliteration Room for the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. Starting with a domestic environment every wall, chair, piano, table, and accessory was painted a brilliant white. Then over the course of two weeks, children who visited were given thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space by placing stickers any and everywhere they wanted.
What a fun explosion of color!

Valentine Lollipops

I love Valentine's Day! A day filled with hearts, mushiness & the best part... lots of chocolate - Yes Please! This year my lil gal & I decided to create some fun & one of a kind Valentine cards for her class.

Supplies:
Chocolate candy melts (we used chocolate & white)
Lollipop sticks
Candy canes
Sprinkles
Lollipop bags

Assemble the candy canes & lollipop sticks on a parchment paper lined cooke sheet.

Melt chocolate over a double boiler.

Carefully spoon chocolate into hearts. I twirled the lollipop sticks to make sure they were evenly coated & added some sprinkles. We also made some treats without the sticks.

Yummy!

Add a bag to protect the treats!

For the card I took a picture of her, added a fun Valentine message & printed them on 4x6 photo paper. Using an e-xacto knife, slice above & below the hand, then insert the lollipop stick. Instant cuteness! (The final lollipop version will be in a treat bag)

Happy Valentine's Day!

XOXO
