Halloween Ghost Feet

I love this time of year! My little gal and I have so much fun doing craft projects together. When I saw this idea posted on Pinterest, I knew we had to give it a whirl.

We started off with a canvas and painted it black.

Next we made a puddle of white paint for her to wiggle her foot in. She giggled and had a blast. Next carefully place each foot down onto the canvas.

We added some googly eyes, adhesive letters and glitter paint
(cause everything we do has to sparkle, even ghosts)!
She wrote her name and dated the back of the canvas.

Last, I attached some ribbon using my staple gun so we could hang it!

Easy peasy! I love that every Halloween we'll have a special decoration to cherish from when she was little :)

DIY Felt Stethoscope

My lil gal loves all things Doc McStuffins. We've made a Big Book of Boo Boos, Lambie Tail Treats & Boo Boo Stickers. So to add to her doctors kit, I created a felt stethoscope. Now she can perform check-ups on all her toys!

 What you'll need:
Plastic headband
1 foot of ribbon (shorten if needed to insure ribbon can't be wrapped around child's neck)
2 - 2" x 5" Red felt for ears (extra for hearts)
2 - 3" Ivory felt circle
1" x 3" Tan felt rectangle
Brown permanent marker
Poly-fil
Hot glue gun
Needle and thread

Wrap the ends of the headbands with felt strips and hot glue. Finish by adding glue and pinching to seal off end of headband. The felt ends should be large enough to fit over the ears and not in the ear canal at all. If necessary, add more felt to thicken.

Using the hot glue gun, attach heart to small band-aid center. Using the brown marker, add dots for a finishing touch. Attach band-aid to one of stethoscope circles with hot glue.

Loop one ribbon end over headband and attach with hot glue. Using the other end of the ribbon, attach to the back felt circle.

Place stethoscope top (with band-aid) on top of the back felt circle and stitch where ribbon meets with a blanket stitch. Stuff with Poly-fil & close with blanket stitch.

(I had to make 20 of these & completely forgot to take photos as I made them. If you have any questions, please ask!)

 The Doc is in!

Back to School Teacher Gift

Start off the school year with a thoughtful teachers gift! Last year we put this little goodie bag together to show my daughters new teacher how important we think she is. It was such a huge hit, we'll definitely be doing it again this year!

We filled a reusable bag with items that teachers could use in their classrooms, especially on those long days during parent-teacher conferences. Trial size products are great.

We included the following items:
Spiral notebooks
Ballpoint pens
Sharpies
Pencils
Advil
First aid kit
Air freshner
Tissue
Nail files
Wet toilettes
Mouth wash
Deodorant
Tums
Hair spray
Hand cream
Listerine breath strips
Gum
Hand sanitizer
Nivea lip balm
Granola Bar

For the perfect finishing touch, we added the adorable teacher appreciate printable from Balancing Home.

Be creative and surprise your teacher with a back to school gift!

I hope your children have an amazing school year!
And a BIG thank you to all the teachers!

DIY Fiesta Cascarones (Confetti Eggs)

Every year I look forward to a huge five day Fiesta celebration called Old Spanish Days! Aside from all the delicious food, the next best treat are the confetti eggs (aka Cascarones). They are egg shells filled with confetti that you crack over someone's head and shower them with the confetti inside.

Want to whip some up with the kids? Let's get started!

What you'll need:
  • Uncooked Eggs
  • Confetti
  • Tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Egg dying kit
  • Pens, crayons, glitter, spray paint, etc...
 1. Tap a small piece of the top of the egg off.
2. Empty out the contents of the egg.
3. Wash the inside of the shell with water. Let dry.
4. Dye the eggs per egg dying kit instructions.
5. Set them to dry again with the hole facing down. I used stick pins on egg cartons to allow the dye to drip off.

6. Fill the eggs with the confetti.
7. Apply glue around the top perimeter of the egg.
8. Secure a square of tissue paper on top.
9. For an extra touch paint designs or add glitter for some sparkle.
10. Let the smashing begin :)

Be warned! Confetti will be everywhere... For days.

 Viva La Fiesta!
